Sarah is a credentialed Parent Coach, trained mediator, and has coached hundreds of parents of adolescents and young adults.

Sarah provides support, ideas, and tools to help you navigate parenting. She works to generate creative solutions that are meaningful, rooted in your family’s values, and based on the realities of your unique situation. Sarah is passionate about engaging parents and helping them work toward the relationship they desire with their children. One of her areas of expertise is helping parents as they transition their child into or out of therapeutic placements.

If you have children in the home, a child that is engaged in a therapeutic program, or a combination of the two, Sarah can help. For those with a child in a therapeutic program she provides an additional layer of support as you navigate having a student in treatment.

Working with Sarah,  you will gain strengths in:

• Boundary setting
• Communication skills
• Co-parenting
• Parenting a young adult
• Navigating divorce
• Identifying parenting patterns
• Exploring co-dependency
• Step-parenting
• Preparing for transition into or out of treatment

After years of conflicting advice from professionals and parenting books, we were overwhelmed and confused. Thank you for recognizing our family’s unique needs and helping us develop tools and strategies that worked for US, not necessarily for everyone else.

Thank you for helping me move from a place of fear and guilt and into a place of hope and possibility. Your approach empowered me and helped me focus on what is within my control and what’s not and reminded me that all of this starts with taking care of myself first.

About Sarah

Sarah began her career providing in-home support services for underserved families in rural communities. Sarah was introduced to the field of outdoor behavioral health in the early nineties and found her passion. She spent twenty years working in a therapeutic wilderness program providing support for families and adolescents. She founded and directed a home-based transitional program for wilderness therapy graduates and was instrumental in developing an adventure-based therapeutic boarding school. She worked closely with Indian Health Services to increase access to wilderness therapy for Native American adolescents. When she was introduced to the field of parent coaching, she jumped at the opportunity to support parents throughout their child’s treatment experience. Sarah also worked as an instructor at Parent Coach Trainers Academy, training others to be parent coaches. In addition to her private practice, Sarah currently serves as Director of Parent Coaching at one of the county’s premier Wilderness Programs.

She has undergone advanced training in positive psychology coaching, parent coaching, family systems and addiction treatment.  Sarah holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Linfield College and is credentialed though the International Coach Federation.

Sarah was raised on the Oregon Coast and returns to the beach as often as possible to adventure with her family. Her greatest joy is being a parent and she is constantly learning from her sons. She enjoys camping and traveling with friends and family. When time allows for a quiet moment, she enjoys tucking into a good book.
